KCAC Clinces Title, HGC Steals 3rd Place

SGS Stadium, March 20, 2012. Keylargo Car Accessories Corp (KCAC) took home the Hexagon Group of Companies Basketball League Championship sweeping the best-of-three title series against Pasteur, 81-75 at SGS Stadium in Quezon City.

Kim Haughton scored 13 of his game-high 23 points in the fourth quarter to seal the win for KCAC of player-team manager Jhun Lacson. Haughton also had 19 boards for the champions who trailed 16-20 at the end of first quarter.

Alejandro Nunez had 21 points, 17 rebounds and Ronald Guangco contributed 18 points for KCAC.

Arnold Crave had 13 points and 7 rebounds to lead Pasteur who had to beat Hexagon Distributing Company (HDC) twice in the semifinals to enter the finals series.

Overshadowed by the KCAC win was the upset win of HGC Group team over HDC in the game for 3rd place.

After trailing 14-28 at the end of first quarter, HGC slowly but surely crawled back to the game.

Marvin Homo scored 15 of his 23 points in the second period where HGC outscored HDC 25-13.

Edmund Magbanua scored half of his 12 point output to spear-head the third quarter run where they outscored their opponents 20-15. Glen Lucero did the finishing works scoring 9 of his 20 in the final period for HGC who had to beat Intercast Team twice in the quarterfinals to enter the Semi-finals round.

Kim Malabanan single-handedly carried the fight for HDC team with 33 points.
